Triassic Period

The beginning of the dinosaurs as we know them today, starting approximately 252million years ago. This was possibly the most significant time period for the evolution of ecosystems that would dominate the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods.

The dinosaurs present in this time where not the tallest animals ever seen, with the average size being 2m in height, we could almost take this moment in time, as a preview of what was to come. The biggest carnivore ever discovered being from this time would have been the Prestosuchus, which would have been about 1.8m in height and 6 meters long. This shows the first stage of evolution in the Triassic, with creatures being this small in this period to tens of millions of years later, the biggest carnivores ever discovered roaming the earth!
